Cooling & Air-conditioning
Single duct variable volume system

Climate control is meant to maintain desired environmental conditions within a space. The architect of a building must have sufficient basic knowledge of HVAC (Heating), Ventilating and Cooling/Air-Conditioning systems. He then can, on an equal level with the installation designer, develop ideas and concepts that are worked out in detail by the specialist.

The greatest energy savings associated with VAV systems occur at the perimeter zones, where variations in solar load and outside temperature permit reduction in supply air quantities.

Note: Single duct constant volume systems change the supply air temperature in response to the space load, while maintaining constant airflow.

This system supplies a single stream of either warm or cold air to the rooms. The VAV system controls temperature within a room by varying the quantity of supply air rather than varying the supply air temperature. The supply air temperature is held relatively constant, depending on the season.
