When choosing an
appropriate heating system, heating capacity in winter is usually no problem,
especially in well insulated and reasonable airtight buildings. More important
is the thermal comfort. Draught and temperature differences are the main
issues. Aspects such as downdraught and
'cold radiance' have to be prevented. Radiators can compensate
for cold radiance, while properly placed radiators and convectors can prevent
downdraught.
In cases where heating
system can not compensate the downdraught and 'cold radiation', alternatives
are needed, like the use of well-insulated glass types in stead of single
glazing and even normal double-glazing.
